The scene at international conference on “ criminal interrogation development and   issues in china”

November 8,2014,the international conference on “criminal interrogation development and issues in china” held in Chengdu, Professor Baosheng Zhang and Associate Professor Hongqi Wu of our institute attended the conference and delivered keynote speeches. This international conference sponsored by the Southwest University for Nationalities was undertaken by the law institute of the Southwest University for Nationalities. More than 40 specialists participated in the conference. The specialists respectively come from German, America, Japan, Tsinghua University, China University of Political Sciences and Law, Renmin University of China, Beijing Normal University, Nankai University, Amoy University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Sichuan University, Southwesten University of Finance and Economics, Fujian Normal University, Southwest Jiaotong University, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China , Sichuan Normal University, China Youth University of Political Studies, Sichuan Police College, Southwest University for Nationalities, Chengdu Intermediate People's Court, Shangquan Law Firm. During the two-day meeting, representatives had heated discussions concerning criminal interrogation practices, recorded and videotaped interrogation, exclusionary rule, defense, the interpretation of criminal procedure law.

Professor Baosheng Zhang delivers a speech on “the Evidence Law’s Restriction of Criminal Interrogation”.

In the first speech unit, Professor Baozheng Zhang took half an hour to deliver a speech on“ the Evidence Law’s Restriction of Criminal Interrogation Procedure”. In his speech, Professor Zhang firstly discussed the issues of criminal interrogation procedures in china, then he demonstrated how the Evidence Law restricts and affects criminal interrogation procedure in perspective of the court cognitive theory and the evidence value theory. Finally, Professor Zhang concluded that we can improve current situation through updating the evidence conception, controlling the evidence standard and evaluating judgment feedback. Professor Zhang’s speech aroused strong repercussions among participants. They discussed the relevant issues deeply. In the second day , Hongqi Wu delivered a keynote speech on “the interpretation of illegally obtained verbal evidence: structure of powers and verbal dispute”. The speech  elaborated the development and the game process of the interpretation of illegally obtained verbal evidence. During the meeting, Professor Baosheng Zhang extensively communicated with the representatives especially those come from foreign countries and reached a preliminary cooperation.
