Professor Aviva Orenstein delivered eight great lectures on Evidence

Invited by the "2011 Plan" China Collaborative Innovation Center of Judicial Civilization, the "111 Plan" Base for Evidence Science Innovation and Talent Recruitment and the Institute of Evidence Law and Forensic Science, CUPL, Professor Aviva Orenstein from Indiana University Bloomington – Maurer School of Law successfully gave a two week course on topic of "AMERICAN EVIDENCE LAW: Confrontation, Privilege and the American Trial" for CUPL students from June 13th to June 24th, 2016.

Indiana University was one of the best universities in United States of America. Maurer School of Law was one of the top law schools with great reputation worldwide. Professor Aviva Orenstein is specialized on evidence and civil procedure law. 

This lecture lasted for two weeks and Professor Orenstein mainly focused on the following topics:  

Part I         Definition of Hearsay “Not for the truth of the matter asserted”

Part II        Exemptions
and Exceptions of Hearsay

Part III       Major changes made by Crawford in terms of Confrontation

Part IV       Privilege

Part V       Movie Show --- “My Cousin Vinny” and “The Verdict”

Professor Orenstein’s lectures focused on Hearsay, Confrontation and Privilege. By explaining details of American Trial while watching these two great movies, makes it more understandable to Chinese students especially in terms of Jury Selection, Direct Examination, Cross Examination and Objections.
